Social ambient = blending with society

The Word tells us....

II Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,KJV

Instruction from II Corinthians says don't blend with the ways of society but blend your ways with the ways of the Lord.  On the other hand read I Corinthians 9:19-23

I Corinthians 9:19  For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

As you read I Corinthians 9, Paul shares his example of blending socially but for the purpose of spreading the gospel and for nothing else.

Don't be socially ambient, blending yourself with society, unless it is for the sake of spreading the gospel. Today the American church is very socially ambient. We have blended ourselves with society so deeply, that one has to look hard to tell a Christian from the rest of society. The church has adopted much of societies standards, not to be a witness, but merely to blend in. As a result of this blending we have left off much of what God has called us to do.  Fortunately there are those that are shedding religious tradition to get into the market place to be a witness and share the good news in non-traditional places. These people are being socially ambient in order to reach the world.

Let God lead you and use you, let anything in your life that may be called social ambience, be for the glory of God.
